500HP Really Means 440RWHP

I know that you loose a % of the HP through the car from the engine before it gets to the wheels. Is there a way to lower this, err raise the RWHP as it were with like lighter or better built aftermarket parts? Or, is it always going to be a loss of approx like 15%?
If you can lower it, what are some good choices for the new 05+?

lighter is faster. My last dyno was 454 rwhp & i did before & after (with & with out S/C) so i figure I have 522 HP at the crank.

lighter drive shaft will reduce some of the energy your motor will require to turn the shaft, thus, allowing you to get more horsepower to the wheels. you will see an improvement but it won't be substantial and can be costly. in my opinion not a great horsepower increase for your dollar ratio. to everyone their own, depends on your situation.

replacing the clutch can gain a few horsies to your rear wheels too. its the difference between size and weight. funny how many things you can change to pick up a few.

Reducing unsprung weight throughout the drive train will decrease that percentage and increase the overall RWHP. Things such as a lighter drive shaft, smaller/lighter wheels, aluminum flywheel. All of these things will help. Additionally, lightening the car will also help.

To get more power to the wheels you have to reduce the weight or friction of any part of the rotating assemble connecting your engine to the wheels. Like they've been saying, clutch, flywheel, driveshaft, etc.

It's usually more cost effective to just add bolt on horsepower though.

Accessories rob power too, so an electric water pump and underdrive pulleys will help.

or get more hardcore and do an A/C delte, power steering delete, stiff motor mounts, etc
