where'd you find and SCT Xcal 2 for $250? i want another just for that price.
a jlt intake and sct 2 runs $575 as a package deal
c&l intake and sct 2 runs $675 for a package
k&n cai with sct 2 runs 600 even for package. good deals for the amount of power you're adding.
underdrive pullies will help with that. if you want to better use the horsies you're putting under there, gears are a cheap way to get the oomph.

You are one of the few. Most have problems with the TB and they are a waste of money IMO.

The guy asked for the cheapest set-up. Hands down if you want 30-100 instant HP for the lowest dollar amount...

N2O KIT...Period.

might want to state if you're worried about the warranty in your search for a lightly tuned car. there's plenty you can do thats borderline on the warranty at dealerships. ask iluvmycar. he'll give ya plenty of advice on that. N2o on the other hand, while even in low 50-100 shot increments, still causes detonation problems. not always. but nos in general needs to be tuned because it obvisouly changes the burning done at any air-fuel ratio. gonna have a hard time explaing why you screwed something up

Well, you have to follow your dad's wishes but here's a little FACT you can tell him...

Despite what anyone has said in this thread or on this site, I have not heard of a single motor going with an N2O kit. In fact, on other more technical forums, it has been an issue for some time and discussed at length and so far, not one person has blown their motor running the standard NOS and ZEX kits for the S197's. They DO NOT cause detonation, in fact, the way N2O works actually lowers your risk of detonation because it works by supercooling, not by forced induction heat which is the #1 cause of blown motors on these new stangs. A ZEX or NOS 75 shot will give you 50-90 ponies safely. Throw in some 4.10 FRRP gears and you are good to go for under $1500. The real secret to N2O is to also buy an electronic window switch ($125) and control the juice automatically. This simple set-up makes it impossible for you to risk your car from a missed shift or 'panic' situation.

You can tell your dad that N2O has come along way in the past 20 years.

maybe a dumb question.........if i was planning to get a custom dyno tune, do I need to buy a tuner? Seems like it would be cheaper just to flatbed the car to the shop after doing the mods. Does this make sense or am i missing something?

^^^ You need to buy a tuner, yes. You cannot tune your car without one specifically for your car. Each tuner is registered to a specific car.
