agree with you, unless we're talking a specialty car (Something along the lines of the Ford GT), or a supercar, paying over MSRP is a terrible decision. The dealerships get greedy and seel this cars for as much as they can get away with. I am hoping *Crosses fingers* that we will be able to find the Shelby's in a few years for a more resonable price.
+1

When I bought my 05 GT, most of the So Cal dealers wanted 4 or 5k over sticker. I just flat refused to do it, and they looked at me like I was nuts.....I was just ready to cave in and order from the factory, when my last desperation call was answered, at MSRP That was back in Feb. of 05....

For the amount of money that you'd loose selling your current car and "trading up" to a Shelby, assuming you could find one, you could build a car that is just as good, if not better, with aftermarket mods.

Blower, custom paint job, wheels & tires, 6-speed, all that stuff is available right now.....

My co worker says her dad put down 10k and the dealer has his name on it.
Not sure if she's lyin or not, but I do know her dad makes alot of money. If he gets it,
I'm gonna try to woo her so I can get with her older father....LOL.

She is probably telling the truth. A friend of my family down here in Florida put a 10k deposit down on a new Shelby at a dealership and has already signed a contract to pay 10k over MSRP. Once again, I think it's a retarded decision to pay that, but he REALLY wanted one of the new cars.

well my post was not with the intention of paying the way over MSRP.
My post was simply asking how long it would be (opinion) for that markup to dwindle to normal or close. Then how screwed I would be when trading my car in (GT), for the shelby after only a year of payments, even if paying double the payments each mo. in a five yr plan. (1yr=2yrs worth of payments)
EVEN after two yrs perhaps.

Just wondering if a dealership would work with you on that and how much I would eat.
