Default anyone had this trouble with exhaust

Just installed new JBA's axle back and now there is this vibration rattle coming from the trunk area. Checked the installation and everything seems tightened down. Anyone have a similar problem?

Also, considerable drone at around 55-65 mph which goes away when OD is turned off. Will driving with OD off long term damage the engine?

You sure you didn't miss a rubber iso mount for one of the muffs? That'd be my guess for the rattle. It was pretty tough getting both mounts lined up without help.

As far as the OD. No damage but premature wear and poor gas mileage would be a concern due to higher rpm's for same speed/miles.

Yes, I had a very similar problem, sounded like it was coming from the rear passenger qtr panel. I took off the mufflers, put some silicon around the metal brackets that bolt onto the frame (i plan on putting rubber washers on later, as the silicon was temp. to see if that would fix the problem and it did) and then rebolt it on. Sound gone. At least for me. It seemed that when the metal heated up, there was some expanding and vibration going through the frame from the metal bracket on the muffler. Hope that fixes your issue, I was going crazy for a while. I have Bassani axle backs for what its worth, but they are all pretty similar with how they are bolted on. Good luck

I had the rattle on my car. In my case, one of the hanger rods for the Borla mufflers was too long and the end of it was too close to the body and would rattle against it under some circumstances.

The drone is a common problem. I fixed it by adding resonators.

I'm glad it's not just me. I had the EXACT same thing happen. A tapping/rattling noise would come and go and was driving me crazy until I isolated the problem. One of the hangers was to long so it had to be cut shorter. Haven't had a problem since. It was the driver side one. The tricky thing is when I looked at the clearence it wasn't to bad but when run hard expansion would make the clearance next to nothing.

Mine seems to happen mostly when I am idling and in gear. No noise when going fast, but does happen when just scooting around town.

Make sure that the top bolt isn't touching the top of the muffler. You can look just behind the rear wheel in the fender well. Try pushing up on the muffler and see if the top of it touches the bolt. That was the problem on mine.
