Mustang GT's official weight??

Mustang GT's official weight??
I've looked around and can't seem to find anything listing the
official weight of the 05 and 06 Mustang GT.
It seems to be in the 3400 pound range, but is that for
the Deluxe or the Premium, the manual or the auto, with the
Shaker 500 or with the Shaker 1000.
I do remember reading somewhere that the Shaker 1000 adds like 45 pounds
more to the weight of the car over the Shaker 500.
But anybody know where we can find offical weight numbers?
Thanks

RE: Mustang GT's official weight??
Okay, did some more fishing.
Found a few things on KelleyBlueBook.
Now let me say, not that KBB is the official source, or the most reliable, but a few interesting
things were found.
Here's what they list:
2006 Mustangs
3373 pounds for Mustang V6 Coupe
3488 pounds for Mustang GT Coupe
**Odd thing here is they list the same weights for the Deluxe version too, as well as for the convertibles.
Obviously the converts are heavier.)
2007 Mustangs
3352 pounds for Mustang V6 Coupe
3356 pounds for Mustang GT Coupe
3612 pounds for Mustang GT Convertible
**So again, obviously there is a mistake for the GT Coupe. The GT Coupe will be a lot heavier than 4 pounds
more than the V6.
BUT, either way, KBB is listing the V6 Coupe as being 21 pounds lighter for 2007 than for 2006.
Also of note, they list the 2007 GT Convertible as 3612 pounds.
Car and Driver weighed the 2005 Mustang GT Premium (with the Shaker 1000) at 3673 pounds.
However, I know the Shaker 1000 audio system alone adds like 40 pounds more than the Shaker 500.
Sooo, what does this seem to mean.
Well, one, the numbers KBB got for the 2007 Mustangs (again not sure where they got them from) seem
to show that the 2007 Mustangs are going to weigh ever so slightly (20 or so pounds) LESS than the
2006 versions.
Which I don't understand how that is.
As Ford claims they are using thicker gauge steel in "certain" body panels and extra welds in
other areas to make the chassis more rigid ( needed for the extra weight and power the GT500 brings
but they are doing it across ALL Mustangs).
I'm more confused now, more steel, and more welds would = more weight.
Argh! I need official numbers so I can figure out whether to get a remaining 2006 or get a 2007.

RE: Mustang GT's official weight??
Here's the scoop on the 05's:
V6 Deluxe- 3352#
V6 Premium- 3371#
V8 Del.- 3487#
V8 Prem. -3506#
Above are with a manual tranny.
Add 21# for an auto tranny on the V6, 18# on the V8.

RE: Mustang GT's official weight??
So, it's apparent that the 2005 and 2006 Mustangs weighed basically the same
(within 2 pounds for the V6 and 1 pound for the V8's)
I was told they made minor changes to the 2006's suspension which might
be the reason for the 1-2 pound difference. Or it could of just been the
scientific differences in the scales, since 1-2 pounds in a 3400 pound vehicle
is basically nothing.
It's also good to know that the weights they are listing is for the Deluxe models.
Which in hindsight makes sense, they want to list the LIGHTEST version for marketing reasons.
I'm surprised the auto trannies only weigh about 20 pounds more.
Usually autos weigh 40-50 pounds more.
Lastly, then with a weight rating of 3352 for the 2005 V6 Deluxe Coupe, that's the same
weight listed for the 2007. Which means that KBB probably took the weights of the
2007's from the weights listed from the earlier years they got somewhere.
It just confuses things even more and tells me, unless FORD actually releases the true weight
of the cars, we can only assume that the 05/06 cars were basically exactly the same and
the 2007 should weigh a bit more due to the use of a bit more steel and welds, unless of course
they made other changes and pulled weight from somewhere else to counter the added weight of
the extra steel.
Ahh, who the h3ll knows.

RE: Mustang GT's official weight??
Is a few extra pounds really going to sway you from getting a 07 rather than an 06? The only way i would be concerned with that is if you are gonna strip everything out and make it a drag car, then the few extra pounds from the steel and welds would make a difference that would be noticable.

RE: Mustang GT's official weight??
Well again, not if it's 20-30 pounds.
If the 07's weigh 90 pounds more (like I've unofficially heard) then yeah.
90 pounds is 90 pounds which not only slows the car down in acceleration, but
will make it's braking distances further too and potentially make it handle worse as well.
