Default Lower Profile Tires???

It Will soon be time to replace the stock Pirellis that came on the 17" machined aluminum wheel package that i got with my car, one thing that i dont like about them is i think the sidewall, or Profile is too large (the profile rating is a 55 on the current tires), i want to go with something that is a little lower profile (maybe a 45) and was wondering if anyone has done this or knows if i may see a difference in performance. reply with any information on this subject.

The lower profile tire is gonna be smaller than what you have unless you go with a taller wheel.

Your car will handle WAY better as you will reduce sidewall flex. I used to do that as a trick to 1. lower my car, and 2. out handle other cars. I run a 225/40/16 on my stang, car origianlly came with 225/60/15, theyre WAY wider bout a good1.5"-2" (if not more). Your speedo will be a little bit off, nothing too serious. And itll be off in the good way, as in your speedo will show that your going faster than you actually are.

I went with Raptor Razor 255/50/17 summer performance tires from Summit Racing. Same rolling diameter as Pirelli 235/55/17,
but puts 10.4" tread width vs 9.1" on the pavement, plus not being all season, the tires bite better on dry pavement, fill the wheel well out more, and corners better. Raptor tires are made by Michelin. 255/50/17 is the largest size tire recommended for the 17 x 8 stock wheel.

8.5 is the recommened widest wheel for that size. Im sure will fit, but might look a little tacky, and possibly effect handling a little.
