Default RE: Strange sound from rear end around turns

Called my dealer today to exlplain the whining sound from my rear axle occuring during slow turns. I have 3100 miles on my car and this will be my 3rd TSB. I had the erratic fuel gauge fixed, the hesitation after long runs fixed, and now this. My dealer is calling me out on this one, he wants a service tech to hear it first before going through with it. I love the car, but man, Ford needs to iron this stuff out before putting new cars on the road. What a hastle. I hope this is it for a while, I dont need the car in the shop every f'ing week!!

ORIGINAL: praztek

Anyone get **** from the dealer, for having 4.10's installed?

ORIGINAL: 5StangsandCounting

Okay, Had 4:10's installed 3 weeks ago, and now my car is making this noise also..!!
I purchased the ford motosport synthetic gear fluid and friction modifier.. also got the $80 rearend kit with new bearings and shims ect..
Q1) is it something that the shop may have done wrong?
Q2) anyone take their car to ford yet after having gears isntalled? wondering if they will still warranty the clutch pack?
darn it...
Nope, but when they did that TSB on my car they tried to blame it on my new gears, and I told them their dumba$$es installed them. Basically either way it was the clutch pack and they couldnt fight it because they put the gears in too. Once they look at the clutch pack they can see it's that, and not your gears. It's to common of a problem for them to try to pin it on something else like aftermarket gears. Everyone already knows the OEM clutch packs are ****.

Good news,...
had my stang in the shop for the chutch pack noise..
dealer said that he had no problem with the fact that i had 4.10's installed... very cool!

replaced the clutch pack and put in 2 bottles of friction modifier, and all is well...

For those of you with 06 Mustangs the TSB number is 06-12-11. A list of TSB numbers and issues can be found here http://www.moddedmustangs.com/forums/2006-mustang-tsbs-vt576.html . I have this same issue. Didn't appear until after about 1000 miles. Haven't taken it in to have it fixed yet. I also have the hesitation issue (TSB 06-9-9).

Don't know why the link didn't come out. Evidently you can't post links to other sites. PM me and I'll send you the link

I originally had the noise with my 3.73's. The dealer installed the clutch pack knowing that the gears were changed. The noise went away but shortly there after that i installed the 4.10's and now noise is back!..I only used the royal purple stuff with no friction modifer. Not sure what I can do now!...I am going to try to dump some friction modifier and see if that helps.
