I got my 2005 black GT with 17k miles for 21,000 a few months ago. Bought it from a private seller who was looking to unload it. Seriously, keep tabs on autotrader, craigslist, etc. constantly. Be patient, and eventually a good deal will pop up, or you'll get a private seller you can negotiate with.

Good luck!

Right! You'll only get that kind of deal from a private party. Since you don't want to buy a junker/toal rebuild $24K is about as low as you can expect! Don't expect leather or auto nor IUP and you might luck out.
I just went to Autobytel and they are showing V-6 but saying GT! Watch out!

Here's a silver one for $26K:

Whatever you do, tell your buddy to make damned sure he doesn't end up with a Katrina veteran or a fixed wreck. Usually a really good deal means there is a really big problem.
