Default I'm getting +20 MPG!

Part of the reason I was apprehensive about buying a GT was the gas price situation, and the fact that the GT could take 87 octane was a deciding factor, but I never dreamed I would get more than 20 MPG. I drive a pretty short daily route, with some highway and some stop and go mixed. I've been very light with the pedal during break-in. My '88 with mods gets about 14 on 93, and my old V6 truck gets about 17 on 87. I never thought that I'd actually be able to tell folks that my new mustang is fuel efficient.

What's the Chevy that is advertising a ton of HP and 27 MPG?

GT06, you think it's trite, but for a guy like me with a monster mortgage, increasing gas & electric bills and real estate taxes, two girls in college and private school, it was a miracle at all that my wife was OK with the new Mustang.... I'll take every thing I can use and try to justify a bolt-on. I hear that the tuner and cold air kits are worth at least 1.2 MPG!

I'm getting 21mpg myself. When i bought it i was getting about 17. I thought that's the way it was going to be with this stang. I guess after a little break in period it slowly went up to 19. After i installed my CAI i was getting 20.2. Now i've hit the 21 mark. Never thought i'd be getting that with this car.

They are indeed worth at least 1mpg, I'm seeing as much as 2+mpg increase. If I can keep my foot out of it I've seen in one tank an average of 23mpg.

My '06 GT, 5 speed stick get's a consistant 21-22 MPG during a mix of rural and stop & go driving. I'm actually AMAZED! I too hear about outrageous GM mileage claims. I just wish they used that technology on my 2500 HD, 8.1L. No matter how I drive it or how I load it, it's 9-10 MPG around town and 13 MPG on the HWY.

I've been wondering the same thing. I do get a little punch happy from time to time (really hope I'm not hurting anything...the car seems to like it just fine ) and have about 700 mi, and I'm kicking around the 16 range with mixed driving. When will this thing be broken in?

Actually, with 4:10's and the cai with a 93 performance tune, my gas mileage stayed the same at around 21mpg. Not bad but the GM vet motors (LS1 and LS2) I had in previous 90's f-bodys all got 25mpg with auto trans. Still not complaining with 21 though, and thats mostly country road driving! Ford never seems to get the mileage that chevy gets but ford wins in the style catagory!

What speed are you guys cruising at on average to get these mpg ?? I am curious because of what I can get out of our 05' 5.4 3V F150. I go back
and forth to SO Cal. from Az all the time. I was happy getting 17.5-18 mpg out of it. After fuel prices going up like crazy, I decided to back my speed down to 70 and put it on cruise. WOW, I am able to pull 21Mpg out of it. I can still get get 17.5 with truck and trailer.
