will a one piece aluminum DS vibe more than the stock one. I plan on putting in and aftermarket one down the line as part of my weight reduction plan (goal 100lbs between the car and myself) while keeping the car fairly comfortable.

Sleeper05 can you send me that info? I am about an hour or so rfrom that area and would consider taking it to them for this mod. Also what is it running you to have done? Are they also doing the install or just making you the shaft?

You know the more I think about this ... why would Ford spend EXTRA money for a

front wheel drive C.V. joints if the car didn't need it....??? think about it...?? think of ALL the money they would and could have saved..!!!!

those c.v joints are in there for some reason.. eh..??? I don't know why yet.. but if Ford could save a dime they would.. bottom line...

why didn't they just make the driveshaft out of metal and be a one piece, with no C.V joints.. ...????
maybe because of body flex..?? ( just a guess on my part on that one ) but a good guess I think..???

anyway
something to think about IMO

I highly doubt body flex seeing as this is the most solid mustang to ever roll out of detroit.

the reson for the two piece shaft with CV joints, and this was given to me by a Ford tech rep, was that they had an issue with driveline noise and vibration. the shaft aloong with other sound deadening tricks(sand filled panhard bar, large rubber bushings on the control arms, large iron axle tube weights etc. etc. were all supposed to stop the whining and harmonics transmitted through the interior. since the car is basically a hatchback design it has a large interior cabin which does something to amplify or worsen the harmonics. also you guys with aftermarket motor mounts know that after they were installed there is a lot more vibration and just plain rumble from the engine itself. Ford was trying to make this car as smooth as the jaguar and lincoln that the chassis was based on......i made mine feel like a mustang now[sm=gears.gif]

ya sure i can. this is the first one they are makin so they don't know for sure how well it'll work, but i'm confident considering they are a good shop and the same mod has been done before. i'll let you know about price/quality/downtime/performance/issues after i get the car back. as for price, i had rear end crunching and took it to JAW'S Differentials and they narrowed it to the DS. I told them i don't care about the cost (within reason) as long as its fixed for good, so i donno about price on the DS itself other than it probly being 400-600 installed.
