Here in Florida if you want a 2006 manual don't expect to get a much better price buying a 06. They are slim pickings so they aren't discounting huge like you would think.

I have been shopping around all weekend for a MGT MSPR 29.050 have been quoted 26.940 do you guy's think this is good or is their still money on the table?
Go to kbb.com and price the car with all options you want. It will give you invoice and sticker prices for that vehicle. The actual selling prices vary regionally, but you should be able to get somewhere between invoice and 1k over invoice if you shop around enough. Usually it's a bit cheaper to order than it is to buy off the lot too.

Why does everyone keep bringing up the welds?

FYI welds, in and of themselves, weigh very little. Unless they're adding big chunks of metal like crossbeams, I would be suprised if extra welds netted over 5lbs.

Not to mention Ford has already published the weight a 3356lbs.

Source See page 10.

The source is not (could not) be official from Ford.

True, extra welds don't weigh that much, but more steel does.

And the reason I say that source book couldn't be correct is for one very simple
reason.
They list the weight of the Mustang V6 as 3352 pounds and the weight of
the Mustang GT as 3356 pounds.

There is absolutely ZERO way that is correct. With all the heavier things the GT has
over the non GT (bigger wheels, tires, brakes, sway bars, suspension, etc etc) there is
no way the MGT weighs only 4 pounds heavier than the V6 version.

Maybe I'm wrong and there IS a way, but I wouldn't know how it's possible.

The author is listed as the Ford Motor Company on stangsunleashed.com.

With cast aluminum wheels, a one inch increase in diameter doesn't add a whole lot of weight, better brakes and suspension (I believe the only change is stiffness and a rear stabilizer bar) don't necessarily weigh significantly more either. Also the fact that the V6 has a cast iron block, whereas the V8 has an aluminum block, could also further offset the weight difference.

Plus, no-one has been able to clarify yet what "thicker guage steel in key places" is actually referring to. It could mean a 1mm guage increase on one or two key points on the frame.

That's true, but the problem I have with the listed 3356 weight is that
the 05/06 are listed on a couple websites as being like 3450 pounds.
I think that's about what some of the car mags have weighed them at as well.

So unless Ford "removed' about 100 pounds in weight from the car (which I don't
know where that would be since the cars are the same) I can't see how the
3356 pound listed weight is correct.

Good point about the V8 being fully aluminum compared to the V6's iron block, but
still the GT has fog lights, more exhaust plumbing, and probably larger radiator, etc etc
as well. There are numerous things on the GT that the V6 doesn't have (the Shaker 500 audio system
as standard) that would bring the base weight of the GT much higher than the V6.
The Shaker 500 audio system alone weighs like 20-30 pounds more than the base stereo in
the V6.

Maybe Ford meant 3456 for the GT not 3356.
Maybe I'm thinking too much into it, but I don't see how it's possible to add more steel to a car
that in every other area is unchanged but the weight is listed nearly 100 pounds lighter. Nor do
I see how it's possible the GT is only 4 pounds heavier than the V6 given all the extras the
GT has over the V6.

Another thing I just noticed. They list the 07 MGT convertible as 3612, that would be 256 pounds
more than the GT coupe.
However, for 05/06 the GT Convertible weighed something like 150 pounds more than the GT Coupe.

So, once again, there's a 106 pound discrepancy there. The 07 GT Convertible surely isn't going to
weigh 256 pounds more than the 07 GT coupe.
