Default Painted Rollbar with L:emans Stripes

The chrome moly 6-point roll bar needed some paint so we decided to go black and to match the color changing stripes on the car on both the main hoop and on the center crossbar. The finish on the rollbar is as smooth as silk and no edge whatsoever for the stripes. The car is enroute to the custom interior shop to finish the carpet edges and rear seat around the rollbar braces. Overall we are very happy with the finish we have on it! Back in the shop once again though...

The car was out for the first time last night since rollbar was fabricated and painted and people were gawking, waving , yelling on the ride out there and folks were gathering round the vert when we were at the drive-in theater too!. They even gave us VIP spot in the grass!

The stripes have no edge at all when you feel them.

The welds came out looking very clean once painted!

Very nice. So whats the motivation for putting the roll bar?

The primary motivation to do a NHRA legal rollbar is that I am running the vert at the track for fun and convertibles need a legal rollbar at any speeds quicker than 13.49.
I have a Kenne Bell 8 PSI intercooled blower going on this week and expect to beat that time on my next outing.

I think it takes the convertible from looking like a cruiser to having a more serious performance attitude!

I'm looking to do the exact same thing with my car. The setup looks great.

If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost to have the rollbar built and painted.

This was not a cheap project but we knew that up front:

six-point 1 3/4" chrome moly rollbar custom made - mig welded to chassis with 6" x 6 " 1/4" steel plates. All dimensions/angles within NHRA and IHRA regulations -
Included were harness mounting point for driver & passenger harnesses (for roadracing) labor & materials cost - $2000
3" five point harness with CAM lock - cost $149.00

Paint & stripe rollbar including clearcoaring and wet-sanding and buffing cost - $700

Custom interior shop fiting sewing and deatailing the rear seats and carpets arounfd the six mounting points cost - $1000

Total cost 3849.00
I am showing the car and I cannot have the carpets just razored to fit. So I will pay the interior experts to fit all the rest of the interior in....

Awesome job! I tip my hat to you! I am the only one over on the V6 side to put a custom roll bar in for "open track" events. Mine's only a 4 point bar, but it gets me through tech inspections. I dig the paint job you did on it. Do you have to pad over it when you run? And I agree with you that it gives the car a more serious look. At the track, every one comes over to look at the roll bar in the 05 Vert.
Here's what mine looks like:

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. As a lower cost alternative to your awesome 6pt. roll bar, my 4 pt. cost me $625 after powder-coating it. A buddy and I did the welding ourselves, which saved a couple of hundred.
