put a roush or saleen blower on it- have a dealer install it, keep your warranty intact. think the goin price is about 7k- wont beat a shelby, but would still add a lot of seat of the pants feel

Just wait a year or two and wait for the shelby to come down in price. But hell for the 40k in price diif between your GT and a marked up shelby you can buy a shelby body kit, mod the hell out of it, be faster, handle better, and probably still have change left to fill the tank for a year or so. But I'm not for building an imitaion shelby. I havent read anything official but supposedly they've already had blower snouts break off, and they not even running forged internals. So what the hell are you getting for 50-60k anyway?

I can't belive Carroll Shelby allows his name on this car. At least he has the GT-H and CS6 backing him up.

I do now retract the pervious statement about the internals. I just read 5.0s article and they state it has a Forged Steel Crank, Cracked forged steel I beam rods, and forged aluminum pistons. I don't know the quality of crack forging or I-beam rods, but I pearsonally would trust aluminum pistions in a FI application.

I'd throw a blower on it (saleen or roush) and do up the suspension a bit and see how the Shelby shakes down in price/availability.

Listen to everyone here. Keep what you have and invest the difference into your current Mustang. Personally, the first thing that I would change is that weak *** automatic. My buddy put the manual 6 speed in his and he loves it. I wouldnt pay 50-60K for any vehicle and I dont care who's damn name is on the side of it. For that much money, you could have one of the fastest cars on this damn forum if you were to build it yourself. I wouldnt take the hit on your current car - as that will simply put you even more in the whole.

You compounded your problem by buying an "auto" anyway
Lejay,

Curious, why do you say that? I've heard some good things about the auto.

I feel the stick is much more desirable and in higher demand than autos, so even though it cost more. fewer ppl want one.
