GT Pinion Angle

GT Pinion Angle
For you guys that have lowered your cars and reset your pinion angle, what setting (angle) are you using and how are the results? Is there any particular trick to measuring it?
I've got a magnetic angle gage and the adjustable LCAs and Roush springs are going on this weekend; I want to make sure it's going to get set right.
Thanks!

Ideally 3.5 to 4.0 degrees. I set mine at 3.8 degrees with a digital inclinometer and it is hooking great and no drivetrain vibrations or other issues at all.

For those of us who may have left our digital inclinometer in our other suit, is there an easier way tho check it?

You can go to Sears and buy a magnetic inclinometer for under 20 dollars if I remember correctly and it works pretty well.

If you want to the same job on the cheap, here is how you do it:
1) Buy a cheap plastic protractor (about $1 at the drug store, you know, the same half circle thing you used in elementary school).
2) Drill a small hole in the center of the bottom part of the protractor (the flat side) and tie a piece of thread to it.
3) Tie a nut to the other end of the thread.
4) Rotate the driveshaft until the end cap of the ujoint is parallel to the ground.
5) Put the flat end of the protractor up against the ujoint and let the string come to rest.
6) At this point you can read the angle by simply looking at the number on the scale corresponding to the string.
This works well. I know that because I have spent a lot of time in the lifted Jeep and other 4x4 world. I have lifted and lowered many cars using this method. It is pretty accurate and best of all, VERY CHEAP!
