Help! My new 2007 GT is too refined

RE: Help! My new 2007 GT is too refined
I was trying to buy a 2006 but I just missed the cutoff. So they put an order in for 2007 using the 2006 spec sheet. I had to wait for the 2007 fleet mustangs to be done before I could get mine. We thought it was going to be August but it just magically showed up at the dealer on July 10th.
I figured the 17inch rims would be my winter rims and some custom 18" rims my summer rims. I did not know that Tire Pressure sensors or heated sets were available - I dont have the heated seat option unfortunatley.
I have never modified a car to any significant extent before and I was not planning on modifying this one either, but now that I went and did the research I might as well live it up.
I tend to be a very picky consumer, so I am never fully satisfied with anything I buy. I think once it breaks in and I get used to the new power band I will be fine, I just cant get my foot to behave until then.
Does anyone know how much I should be paying for just the 2 stripes to be painted on? Anybody have any horror stories?
thanks again

I have an 06 vert. The CAI plus tune makes a big difference in perception. You will at least be able to chirp the tires. I would wait on that before you start changing gears. Also, turining off O.D. keeps the revs up at all speeds and makes the car feel more responsive.
Brenspeed.com has sound file of different exhaust setups.
Ghostpony - great job. Is the rollbar legal without a forward brace?

Not to affend anyone but convertable Mustangs have always been heavy terds. If you want a quicker Mustang or hot rod convetibles arn't the way to go and especially if you bought one with a terdamatic.

My car does have forward braces or a "side bars" and it is NHRA legal. Here is a picture while it was under construction.
Ricky 05 No offense taken but C'mon up to GDL dragway on Sunday and you can see my "terdmatic" beat coupes all day long! The new convertible weighs 125 pounds more than the coupe. That is negligable weight in my opinion unless you are shaving tenths. Oh, and everyone knows the fastes 05 and 06 Mustang GTs have all been running automatics that have been posting there times.
There are several in the ten second range, so unless you are an expert at powershifting those crappy manual trannies I think the auto will do fine.
No need to insult both automatic owner and convertible owners - HowyHowy was looking for help not someone telling him he shoudn't hot rod his vert you terd meister!
My car weighed 3650 before I added the 6-point chrome-moly rollbar was 60 LBS additional weight.
There are several fast verts out there too. I prefer convertibles so I could care less about 125 pounds of weight. Topless is the way to go for my tastes!

I picked up my 2007 GT Premium 5spd convertible yesterday and boy am I disappointed!
If this mustang doesent excite you, you do have very high standards. I am used to big-block musclecars and german sports cars. And think the mustang is pretty sweet.
But the throttle lag on my car is annoying me as well, the auto I drove was much worse. As is the case with all new cars with computer controlled autos.
I am hoping a good tune will cure some of the evils.

RE: Help! My new 2007 GT is too refined
I have a 2006 GT coupe with an automatic. From a standing start, stock, my car would break the tires loose from a dead start without brake torqueing it. I just added a JLT CAI/SCT II tune from Fred @ Evolution Performance. 35 hp/30 lb. ft. at the rear wheels over stock. BIG difference. From a standing start, the car now lays a double stripe, screetches the tires 1-2, screetches the tires 2-3. In general the car is much more responsive than stock. The sucker goes like a scalded dog being beat with a stick. I highly recommend this mod from Evolution Performance. Best $525 bang for the buck.
