what i normally do is turn it off when i go, then turn it on when im cursing..
Might want to turn it on when cruising instead.. I tend to forget to turn it off when its time to go, and have ended up cursing for it....

mpg might not vary, but mines a toad when the ac is on...off idle response way different...reminds me of driving up around 7-8000 feet in colorado...

It may be a combination of the high heat<reason for the ac, and the ac itself. in wisconsin it gets really hot during the day but nice and cool at night. Car seems totally different when cool and seems like i loose a cylinder when it gets hot out. Then with the ac on its like i loose another cylinder! Hot weather with ac on max even with 4:10 gears and you really have to dump the clutch over 3000 rpms just to chirp the tires! Turn it off for play time.

In the 2 weeks I've had mine, it's barely gotten below 95 during the day so I don't have much to contrast with.
But I have noticed a significant hit in performance with the AC on, even at highway speeds.
That's ok though, September ain't that far off and by then it should be nice and broken-in.[sm=smiley16.gif]

That could also be from the heat itself... hot pavement + hot, sticky tires = no chirp.

How much I don't know, but the crank has to turn the A/C compressor when the A/C is on, it doesnt just free wheel like when it is off. So you will feel less kick.

You are totally right. The engine just loses HP like the other guys said because the enging has to run the AC compressor too. Its not that bad though IMO. Then again, my first car was an 88 Mustang LX 4 banger (90 hp i think?). When I had the AC on in that thing I had to plan a route that didnt involve hills because there was no way i would get up them LOL!
