I don't even have the meter you guys are talking about. Is that just on the premium GTs? I do the math at the gas pump, dividing the miles I've driven since the last fillup by the gallons of gas I put in the tank. For every tank I drive, I probably drive it hard about half the time and take it easy the rest. But even with a little hard driving, 13.5 mpg sucks.
I don't have that extra electronics package either so I calculate my mileage the way you.....reset the tripmeter at the gas station at every fillup, then at the next fillup, I divide the miles I drove by the number of gallons I put in. Simple and close enough for me to have a good idea. I drive an '06 GT with auto trans (all stock so far) and have about 5300 miles on it so far, and with pretty much every fillup, I've consistently been getting readings of 19.5 to 19.8 mpg......and I push 75-80 mph 22 miles to and from work each day on I-5. Well, I should say that is whenever I can, when these ultra non-driving Seattleites aren't clogging the left lane doing 61 and thinking they're flying!!!!

My driving does vary, but I am pretty happy with this. I am not racing, but definately not *****-footing it either. We'll see what happens if the damn KB box ever gets here!
Those are similar to the kind of MPGs I've been getting in my Stang.

With no mods to my car yet, I've only been getting about 13.5 mpg so far.
In my 2002 GT 5spd I got 21MPG quite regularly while driving to and from work. With my 2007GT 5spd the meter is saying 17.5 which I have yet to test manually. I think since this car has the ability to generate more HP than the 2002, when I get on it, it sucks proportionately more gas. Maybe after the car (read your foot) breaks in a bit it will get better. BTW, the Trip computer was an option that I had to select when I ordered my car.

Wow its been a long time since i replied or posted here! Life without the internet at home SUCKS B@LLS!! Ok heres what i know. The the MPG stated by the EPA is totally off. I read somewhere they are going to change the testing procedure in either 07 or 08 I think. The reason for this the testing does not reflect the actual way that people drive. i believe that what i read says that the stated MPG can be off up to 25-30% which would pretty much explain your #'s( i heard it is worst for hybrids LOL). I now live here in orange county cali, and before i lived in washington DC. By no means do I drive crazy, but like most mustang owners I tend to have a crazy streak and a lead foot. Both in washington (stop and go traffic like a mo fo) and here (same) i got right around 12.5-13.5 MPG in city driving (with some revving of the engine at stop lights and spirited driving). Best MPG i ever got was a road trip to Salisbury Md to visit my brother. I kept it at 60 the ENTIRE WAY BACK! It really sucked but i got 29 and change MPG and i only had 1000 miles on the car. I guess what im trying to say is your #'s seem normal to me. BTW, my thinking on mustangs is, if you cant afford the gas, tires, or insurance this aint the right car for you LOL JK. Enjoy your car man!
I am in DC and will not even check to see what i am getting till after the first 1000 miles, I sold my jeep to get this, so I am sure i will notice alot better gas mileage now. But anyway to make things short if you read your window sticker (this one off a standard) you will see it says this.

"Actual mileage will vary with options, driving conditions, driving habits and vehicle's condition. Results reported to EPA indicate that the majority of vehicles with these estimates will achieve between 14 and 20 mpg in the city and between 21 and 29 mpg on the highway."

So technically you are close, just on the low end, and I am sure for the automatic those numbers go even lower.
Actually, I believe the automatic has higher EPA ratings than the manual. Personally, I'm usually around 16-17 for a tank, and my highway/street driving is about 50/50. Based on your guys' results I think I might take mine to the dealer. Only problem is it's the only car I have...do they usually give you a loner?
