best way through the firewall?

best way through the firewall?
i'll be wiring a new amp pretty soon and those audio visual guys are no good at replying to questions so i'll ask you guys cause i know i'll get a response.
first off, what's the best way through the firewall with my 8 guage amp wire and a small remote wire?
second, what's the best way to hide cords? the whole route from firewall to trunk. best way to remove panels...so i don't break anything.
i will be installing a switch to turn on the boom....any recommendations on the location of mounting a switch?
thanks guys

RE: best way through the firewall?
I would assume the best way through would be to try and squeeze through the already premade holes, they have a rubber gasket I believe.. or some other type of sealant around them.. Theres one on the passenger side, not sure about the driversside.
Best way to remove panels is just to pull them gently. Most are held on with clips, and the door sills are a few clips with some double sided tape.
I would personally run the wire from the battery (or wherever youre getting power) and go through the fire wall and under the carpet on the passenger side. Run it under the front seat and then remove the rear seat and run it up through the trunk that way. OR you could just get a spare battery to put in the trunk and then you would only have like 2 foot of wire. Makes it alot easier but also adds a good 20 lbs (if you care about weight).
As far as location of switch, you want it convenient but out of the way... so I would suggest somewhere near the bottom of the steering wheel.. but its your switch, mount it somewhere where its easy to reach and doesnt stick out and look stupid

RE: best way through the firewall?
when my car was new I pulled the fenders off to undercoat, the antenna dont remove easily, so left it in the fender(think they red loctite the torx head screws- only one of 4 would come out- and it was tight as hell...) anyway, the antenna lead goes thru a pretty big grommet, pop the liner out(easy) and plenty of room to get in there- pretty close to the battery also, so easy to hide the wiring.
not sure of other areas that might be easier...thats the only grommet I popped out...
heres a pic of pass side(antenna=orange), and will try to add second pic of drivers side- pretty crowded down there...

RE: best way through the firewall?
cool...thanks guys. i especially appreciate the pics.
i'll be using the factory head unit so i'll be using a line-out converter so there will only be power lines from the front. i'll be splicing into the rear speakers with my converter.....has anyone heard if the signal is filtered before the rear speakers or is it full range?
again...thanks everyone

RE: best way through the firewall?
Supposedly the signal is filtered, but my sub works just fine running with speaker level inputs from the rear speakers.

RE: best way through the firewall?
Best way through the firewall is feet first. Head first hurts too bad.....LOL
Actually just use a pre-existing grommet and poke a small hole with a scribe like metioned above.
