Default Good One! weight/hp ratio

alrighty. saving more and more money after spendin more and more. Im sure you all know how that is. To start i have to buy new tires soon. so i considered steeda ultralites "liteness" eaquals quicker.

1) how are we saving with the 18x9.5 (back) 18x9 (front). i have the stock 18" fans and just to make this forum a little more diverse for all, simply what is the weight per wheel

2) yes more hp is very enjoyable. so is less weight. i saw that the 500 hp gt500 weighed about 400 lbs more than a 400hp c5 corvette (here very roughly 400lbs is similar to 100hp). about the same 1/4 mile times ect. if we all put our mustangs on the 100lb diet it would take a given amount of hp to get us going. so 100lbs = ????hp

oh and i installed my jba evol a/b's today ill get a clip for the forums. i noticed this forums along with mostly all needs a strictly sound forum ya know all neet and tidey.

wow thanks cause i think this could possibly be a very informational and not pointless forum.

this is all i could find... whatever its close enough.

18"x8.5 fans=31lbs
18"x9 steeda ultralite= 22lbs
18"x9.5 =25 save about 24lbs for $900 not as good of a deal as i thought but they stil look awesome.

now can one of you pro guy mechanic wizzards help us all out with the weight/hp ratio

if installation was cheap bmr k members are around $400 and you save maybe 30lbs ect if this ratio thing is significant 30lbs here and 20 there will really cut down those 1/4mile times

and i'm thinking the stock headers are cast iron and i know that is heaver than my jba short tubes (gettin dyno tune ill let you all know if i wasted my $700)

but yeah fan blades are by far the way to go but i guess thats preference. without prefferences and risky expensive desisions this would be one terrible forum and a retarted world

cant wait for my new job. (loan closings) my sister did 4 tonight and made $800 to sign papers and such. ONE NIGHT

S/C is gettin close my friends

not sure what you are asking regarding power/weight ratio but a general rule of racing is 100lbs.=.10 second until you get to vehicles weighing under 2000lbs. or with engines over 1000hp. then the rules get fuzzy. i have lost about 250lbs (3300#w/o driver)on my car so far and thats not counting the new race seat and lightweight exhaust i just installed. with all that included i should be down to about 3100-3150lbs w/o driver. my goal is 3000lbs w/o driver. i don't know where to lose another 100+lbs without cutting the car up but i'll keep looking. just switching from the stock bullet wheels to a set of bogarts and m/t's lost over 100lbs! the k-mwmber and a-arms were about 50lbs lighter and another 40lbs taken off from the rad support/sway bar delete. aluminum driveshaft lost 30+ lbs too.

wow congrats to that. i was just maybe thinking a 100 or so lbs but i dont want to sacrifice any comfort and ihave some very fun roads and im afriad i shouldnt delete the swaybar. but all that helps alot and the c5 is 600lbs lighter so acorrding to those two cars (probably close but not excactly accurate) 60lbs equals roughly 10hp. ill keep savin and spendin

I got a different weight from tirerack.com on the fanblades. They list them at 26 lbs. each. I like my fanblades, but if they're actually 31 lbs, then I want to swap them. I can live with 26 lbs. Where did you get the 31 lb. figure?

I removed my spare tire and jack, that was about 60 lbs right there.Since 1997 vettes don't come with spares or jacks either.
How about a carbon fiber hood, light weight exhaust, trunk carpet.I only had my car a month,i'll find some more weight to toss as well. The metal suspension pieces in the rear look heavy too.

the weight of the fan blades are from fordracingparts.com im pretty sure theyre leggit. but yeah i havnt got rid of the trunk stuff yet and i only weigh 155. im thinkin get a carbon fiber driveshaft cause im gonna need one for the s/c maybe k member and a arms. but other than that i am trying to get better handling i love pulling through and seeing those squigly signs.

Don’t forget about spinning masses vs. static masses! Shaving 10lbs off your rims or drive shaft is much better than taking 10 lbs out of your trunk (or waistline). Not only do you have to accelerate the weight of your rims but you have to get that same mass spinning too.
