i'm noticing a strange trend with my car. everything will be cool, cars sounding and feeling great then all of a sudden i hear what sounds like a "click" from the rear it seems. then the car immediatly revs a little faster, sounds very "airy" from the bottom, and loses a substantial amount of power. it sounds like it starving for air. sometimes it goes away when i kill it and restart it and something it doesnt.

anyone come accross this?

It could be your air conditioning. Although that click should be from the front. The compressor turns off and on as necessary and "clicks"

I heard that at first and freaked. It is the air conditioner.. at least on mine.. turn it off and see if you hear it. its the air conditioner recycling. (if thats the noise), and its absolutely normal.

Mine also sounds like it's coming from the rear, but I know better.

incredibly annoying when i first got the car; but its normal. its the a/c compressor i believe.

I get the same symptoms, but the loss of power isn't that great to me. Maybe because i'm used to driving a 99 ford ranger 2.5L 4cyl and when the A/C compressor cycles everyone around you knows it and snails start to pass you.

hmm, i wonder if its more pronounced for me since i have all those mods.....

I first heard that sound a month ago and freaked because I was a hundred miles away from home. Took me awhile to realize it was only the air conditioning compressor cycling as others have said. Noisiest system I've ever heard. I'm glad it's "normal" but not really if you know what I mean. It does take some getting used to.
