car feels slower with windows open.

RE: car feels slower with windows open.
I just took a 1000 mile trip last weekend with the windows down at mostly 80 mph. I averaged 26 mpg. There was certainly no lack of power, even in the bursts well over this speed. The difference in performance and economy at street speeds is insignificant. If you like the windows down, put'em down. If you like AC, put'em up.

If opening up a window slows thw car down and hurts gas mileage, what the hell happens when I put the top down and go 80? I don't notice any difference because I drive with the top down 90% of the time so maybe I'm used to it. The cure is just keep adding power more LOL.

When you have your windows open it adds more drag to your car, also a suggestion for you guys with V8's, when you are driving at Freeway speeds it is better to drive with the A/C on because if you drive with your windows open it will add more drag force to your car so you'll waste more gas and when driving below Freeway speeds drive [sm=gears.gif]with your windows open instead of the A/C, unless you get to hot then turn on the A/C.

So what I found from this is if I'm hot I should roll down my windows or turn on the AC. I feel smarter now. Just kidding. I have a vert and usually drive with the top down and ac on so I guess I'm getting the worst MPG out of all of us.

Only if you're using the gas as a foot rest too!

What I can tell you is this vert is one of the better cars I have driven at keeping the wind noise low and keeping the wind off of you. It's actually easy to carry a conversation with the passanger in the car while driving at freeway speeds.

If you have a vert with the top down wouldnt that give you less drag?? cause you have nothing there to trap the air its just flowing over the windsheild.
