Default Saleen from JDM

I asked what more I need for my Saleen S/C I purchased. A guy from JDM said with just the basic kit I would make around 375rwhp. He says with some package thing (didn't say what was in it) would take me well over 400rwhp, but would cost another almost 2 grand. I don't want to spend another 2 grand when I just spent over 5 grand. Anyone know what you think was in this "package"? Maybe I could buy from elsewhere. Maybe all I need are 39# injectors to take me to 400rwhp. Any help would be appreciated

The Saleen typically puts up numbers around 420rwhp according to every topic in the forums that i've read around here about them and most of the places selling them tell me the same thing. The "upgrade" kit for the saleen is typically about 1k (not 2k) and has 39lb injectors, pulleys to swap in for higher boost etc and the saleen hits about 475rwhp according to most sites, including Saleen's I believe.

Two grand is a bit much. You can get a set of 42lb injectors, a Lightning MAF, and a Lightning MAS from buyfordracing.com for less than $400. Southfloridapulleyhq.com has pulleys for $159. JDM actually just lowered their pulley price also. The belt you can get through any local parts house for $40 or less. Only other thing you might need would be a different air filter. You can pick up a congical style filer just about anywhere. Or get the JDM cold air intake kit.

Definitely shop around. It will be worth your time to do so.

Saleen's horse power numbers are at the crank, not rear wheel power!! Many people get confused or misunderstand the two. The problem is everyone..."racers, custom tune shops, etc" Only look at rear wheel power. Of course......everyone wants to know what tey are putting out, or should
I say down to the ground. Here is a link about the Saleen upgrade kit....

JDM is probably including an SCT tuner with their tune and possibly the GT500 fuel pumps in the price. I would talk to them further before you rule them out as they are one of the top Saleen shops.

Does that mean you don't have to send your pcm to them, since your getting their tuner with the program already in it for your car?

No. They will send you a hand held with the tune on it and you reprogram the PCM.

That price doesn't include the $900 fuel pumps. ( yes, that's right, 900 bucks ).
I'm not saying rule JDM out. Jim Jr. and Jim III are great guys. But there is no denying that they are freakin' expensive. He can still get the SC through them, and have them do the tune work. But why spend $400 on injectors and another $200 on a MAF and MAS when he can get both for $400 total through someone else. I mean for gawd sakes, JDM wants $160 for a set of spark plugs!!

I just bought the saleen s/c with upgrade from Saleen. I am being told it is a 2 7/8" pulley which produces 10psi of boost and makes 475RWHP.....I am actually still waiting on it to get here but I figured I would see if that makes any sense to you guys. They said 525 at the block
