Getting the car friday and my buddy and I have already planned a nice base line race. He has a 98 Cobra with flows and 3.73's on it and mine will be all stock...both 5 spds. Cobra is rated at 305 so it should be a close race in my opinion...but I have driven that cobra several times and I do have to say it pulsl alot harder in the top then the GT...
I'll let you know.

Please please please tell me you are going to break in that engine before you plan on racing it. If you don't, well then you dont deserve the car you are getting.

Don't worry don't worry, I have been up at the dealer taking it out for spins daily....I had no intention of pounding on her just yet...but I do appreciate the concern for my baby.
But I also have this to say, as far as "breaking in" goes it really isn't the same as it was before. The break in period on a motor is different these days, the only reason people broke in motors was when they are running chrome moly rings that took time to seet..(spelling) that is completely different from motor's of today. Now the rear end on the other hand needs a few hundred miles.

From the Ford manual. "Your vehicle does not need and extensive break in. Try not to drive continuously at the same speed for the first 1000 miles of new vehicle operation."

these are the same people who make money off the service of our vehicles svt93style. Im not trying to be rude but I know I babied my Stang (as much as I could stand anyways) until about 1k miles. I did redline her a coulple of times to make sure the valves were seated firmly but other than that, im old fashioned and I took it easy the first 1k.
