When I was looking at a new vehicle I looked at just about everything. WRX, used trans ams and Camaros, 350Z G35, and of course my baby. I didnt like the lack of space in the 350Z, I felt that while it was fun to drive and pretty quick, it was really lacking in Low end torque. Even though they sound pretty good for a V6, I also really missed the sound of all 8 cylinders. Where I live, (college town)I see a ridiculous amount of 350Z's I do like the way they look, I think Nissan gave consumers exactly what they wanted with that car. Even though my GT is quicker, I still think its about preference. I also knew I wanted to mod my car, and its really hard to beat the Mustang Aftermarket, not to mention how effective mods are for our car.

To generalize all Mustang Drivers or all 350Z drivers is an exercise of ignorance, were talking about thousands upon thousands of cars and people, calling one a chick car is pretty erroneous imo, and most likely hints at some insecurity...

Hmmmm I see both points here, the Mustang has really broadened it's buyer core because if it's sophistication(relative to the car it replaces-I'm not comparing it to GTOs, G35s,330is etc.) and it's return to it's heritage(look-wise). The 350Z has also gone back to what worked for it in the 70s..good value, affordability and no nonsense performance. Yes, it's strange comparing a 2 seat sports car with a 4 seat sports coupe...but the lines are skewed. They are nearly within each other's price range and have similar "on paper" performance...I personally like the 350Z..best looking JapCrap in many moons....but I absolutely LOVE the new S197 Mustangs(to all the posters I've dissed regarding their S197 V-6s, I apologize, they are growing on me) and when it came time to buy...I like being able to cart more than one passenger at a time..and the V-8 Growl! In high school(early 80's) I had a German made Ford(some people call them Mercury) Capri with a 2.6L V-6......the car was as fast as a V-8 Mustang II, but 240-260-280Zs would take my lunch money...now it's payback time! lol Seriously though...it's great to have people have a choice...it'll be better if Dodge and Chevy could get their $h1t together and bring back some "real" competition, not some decked out station wagon or sedan. For now though, I think the 350Z and G35 coupe are decent stand-ins.
