The hard numbers on auto/manual diff?? 0-60, 1/4??
Please don't kill me!
I did look and look and even looked some more and couldn't find any hard facts on the differences between the two. I understand the manual puts more HP to the wheels, and the auto shifts better than most people... so with that being said, are there any hard facts of how the two differ in their 0-60 and 1/4mi times? The mustang ad claims a 0-60 in 4.9 and I've seen it listed as high as 5.5. I have an '06 screamin yellow auto GT and I just want to have my facts straight when I'm showing off my new car.
Thanks,
Joe

Relax man, no one s gonna kill you!!! here are the numbers from Motor Trend for an auto trans Stang GT:
0-60: 5.1sec
1/4: 13.6@99.9m/h
It was achieved using torque braking technique at 2000rpm and carefully modulating the throttle.

A local guy ripped a 13.6 @ 106 mph in a bone stock '06 manual at my local track. We're at sea level (louisiana) and the humidity was very low. Still, it was kinda hot outside and I've heard rumors of stock '06 stangs hitting 13.4 in both auto and manual trim.

there is another thread about a similar topic where someone was stating that the really fast modifieds are using automatics alot due to the fact that the hp/speed is actually hurt by the average driver's slower reaction time vs cars that are closer to stock getting better times with manuals due to your slightly increased hp with manuals (due to the lack of parasitic drag). I haven't seen anyone post the sweet spot where manuals give sway to automatics but I'm sure someone smart on this stuff has a pretty good estimate figured out.

It really depends on where your at. . .
regardless, good driver in a manual will be a tenth or two quicker with the right driver due to drivetrain loss.
I'm in Ky, and I hit 13.8, 60 ft wasn't the best though, it could have been better, that tells ya right there its got prolly a 13.6 or 13.5 in it

one guy did a 13.9 the other day, his ride was completely stock. And before someone thinks that dude can't drive, it was about 100 that day and the humidity like 100%?!
