Default 400 Flywheel horsepower

I would like to acheive this hp rating without going forced induction, can anyone suggest which mods would best suit my needs here? I am going to guess it would require some head work, or a cam swap but it sure would be nice to hit this 400hp goal with bolt on parts...

With the correct combination of parts and tune you can reach your goal. it's actually challenging and fun:

1) LT headers with X pipe + cat backs.
2) CAI.
3) UDPs.
4) Cams & valvetrain
5) Perfect tuning w 93 octane

and remember, it's the RWH that matters, if you can reduce the drivetrain power loss you can compensate if you come up a little short on your goal.

1) Aluminum driveshaft.
2) Gears.
3) Torque Converter (for Auto's)
4) Light weight wheels.

ofcourse, if you add (5.2l Stroker kit + Ported heads + 10.5 compression) you will be around 500 flywheel horses

Take the setup I have right now, do cams w/ a tune, and an aluminum driveshaft . . .

you should be able to put down about 350-360 wheel. . . thats around 400 to the crank

Yes I am putting an aluminum driveshaft very soon, which should give another 10-15 to the rear wheels, but that will have no effect on flywheel horsepower, but the driveshaft will be an awesome compliment to my gears and udp's...I was also very suprised with the gains felt from my shorty headers, they let me rev to my redline insanely fast!!! I seriously considered going forced induction but I dont want to kill my reliability here, sure you can safely run 7psi, but bottom line is this motor is not exactly a good candidate for FI.

what? what? what?

It is a fine canidate for FI... good to 450RWHP - sorry is that not enough?

The only trouble with FI is the cost....

Have you thought about how to get all that HP to the ground, you hear alot of people wanting all this HP, but it does nothing if you arent' getting traction. Make sure you include suspension mods in your budget. [sm=burnout.gif][sm=burnout.gif][sm=burnout.gif][sm=burnout.gif]

The power potential with FI is amazing, but I think that all of the stories I have heard about blown motors has me staying NA for now, I am a big fan of FI, I had a Buick Grand National, but it was the non-intercooled version, fun car though..Are you enjoying your Supercharger??
