Is an Extended Warranty Worth it?

RE: Is an Extended Warranty Worth it?
The 5yr 60k miles is drivetrain only. Which should be basically most of the parts which will break on our cars. We're not talking BMW here.
I have had excellent experience with this company below... although their prices almost doubled recently, i'm sure your can get a better deal than their website shows.

In my opinion, shortly after your regular warranty expires some things are gonna go bad... just seems its a fact of life... BUT, add up what youre gonna pay for an extended warranty an you can afford to fix a few things gone bad... just my humble opinion...

Ain't no way in HECK would I buy a extended warranty from Ford. They don't fix any problems that I have now, why waste the money.
The second that I take my Town Car in for an oil change or tires they give me the royal treatment...donuts and coffee on the house, however if I take the Mustang in for any warranty work, I'm like a bum asking for a buck for lunch. Funny thing, I get a follow up call for the out of warranty Town Car, but I hear nothing from anybody after I attempt to get warranty work done. Yeah, no way will I get an extended warranty or another Ford for that matter.

i got the 100,000 mile warranty, but then again i drive 700 miles+ per week. i figured even if everything goes great, i'll still end up with $2k+ in repairs by 100,000 miles. no way in HELL is this car not gonna need any repairs in the first 100k.
i already got the TSB for the rear differential moan/groan...and i think the a/c may be next. hopefully not the fuel pump, too...

Here's one more opinion...as if you needed another one. Buy it if you think you are not going to mod the basic covered components (i.e., engine, etc). If you want a piece of mind and plan on keeping the car for a long time..buy it. I you can't afford expensive repairs after the warranty expires...buy it. If none of the above...forget it. By the way, when I bought mine in VA, the dealer had just started a "4 Life" program meaning..all bacis components are covered for as long as I own the car and service the vehicle in their shop. There lies the problem...I am in the military and will move the Washington State next year. The contract states that is not transferrable....In the next few months I'll start my writting campaing to Ford/local dealer to ask for an exception...

I'm thinkin ya got the coverage for life regardless where the car is. The part about not being transferable means ya can't transfer it to a new owner. JMO
