exhaust with least drone?

RE: exhaust with least drone?
We put the ford racing performance exhaust on mine. It has some between 1800-2000rpm, after that or before that it is gone - and just sounds sweet - and with the weather gettin' nice here - even better with the window down!

RE: exhaust with least drone?
I've been looking for a good sounding 'no drone' system also. After talking to lots of people (tuners, and the manufactures themselves) my take is that chambered mufflers (flowmasters etc. even the stock ones, but they are muffled enough that it's not very noticable) tend to produce drone. While a straight through design (Corsa, Pypes Violators etc.) does not. I have the Flowmasters on now, and like them except for the drone around 2,000rpm. Which unfortunetly is right at cruising speeds in my automatic. The drone occurs when the speed of the engine produces sound waves that are the same physical size as the volume/space inside the car and therefore seem much louder to some of our ears. BTW you can prove this by singing in the shower, if you hit a pitch that is the same as the resonant frequency of the room the effect is very noticeable. OK, OK, never mind the effects on the neighbors dog! I hope this helps explain it, sorry just my engineering side coming out. Also many thanks to those of you who have posted helpful things here. I've been reading for some time, but this is my first post.
