Default What's going on? Another strange noise?Help!

I get home and turn the car off, and all the sudden I hear a clicking noise behind the dash in back of the steering wheel, nothing was turned on, no ac or radio was left on. I made sure everything was turned off and sat there for a minute and started the car and turned it on and turned it back off and the clicking was still there but have as loud as the first time I heard it? It was almost like a relay was freaking out. Anyone ever had this noise? I never have heard this noise before and now I find my self looking for a way to hear it again. Maybe I'm going crazy. Maybe Im hearing some sort of safety switch?

Was it quick short clicks? Was it a click then a delay then another click? More in depth please and maybe I could help.

It was quick and short, it lasted for about 3-5 seconds. No pausing in the clicks, one after another. Maybe some one can start their can with nothing turned on and turn it off and see if they can repeat it so I can stop freaking out. My doors were shut by the way so I dont think it was the door chimer. You may have to listen for it. It's a muffled click though, if anyone can relate that would be great.

So just to assist here.

Car was in Park (if Auto) and E-brake was on?
Key was out of the ignition? if not what positionw as it in?
Did at any point you open you door after you turned the car off?
Was your cd\radio still playing?
Was your fan still on?
Were your interior lights on?
Did you have your windsheild wipers on?
Was the AC on?
Did you unbuckle your seatbelt?
Did you eat breakfast that morning? If so did you include a brand muffin?

I know exactly what your talking about. All of the guages make a clicking noise as they go back to their starting position. Watch the fuel guage after you turn the car off. As soon as the guages reach their starting position, the clicking will stop. Problem solved.

Nothing Left on, it's a manual, key still in ignition turned off, door closed with windows up.

You are 100% right on the money! Is this normal? I have had this car since new and this is the first time I ever noticed it. Thank you for understanding what I was trying to described.
