I've noticed that when you shift at about 5500 RPM's, you get a better second gear rip and launch. Becareful though, anything after that and you will miss second gear and grind.

I don't know if it's ideal or not, but I can shift into 2nd right at redline as quick as the stock shifter will let me and I haven't ground it yet. It chirps the tires, so it's not like I'm babying it. The car is bone stock too. I would think shifting at 6000 is what Ford had in mind, but I'm a noob so what do I know

I am shifting around 6200 and never had a problem 1st to 2nd..lays down some rubber in 2nd...never had a problem from 2nd to 3rd wouldnt say it lays down rubber but definatly chirps 3rd
