Default Headers for my next mod

I'm thinking of adding some headers and only headers on my 06 GT.

I am wondering if anyone knows if I need to mod my existing exhaust to add shorty headers?

Also, do they add much performance improvement?

Do they add any noise increase as I'm not looking for that option.

Do you guys recommend any certain brand over another?

Is it a waste of money?

Should I mod something else to enhance the header mod?

I don't think the shorties are as much worth to buy as the Longtubes. I have the Kooks on mine and very good quality. I also have the Catted and X and Magnaflows so I really can't help you with the sound difference.

If your gonna do the header job you have to go with the L/T's. The Kooks set-up is probably the best one you can get.

2006GTSC,
I have been wanting to hear a sound clip of the Kooks before I get it. Do you have one?

Well, I have done a ton of research and forum searching and for what its worth get LT headers, they are worth the money however you don't need titanium or custom headers to get the result you

want.

Brand wise I am going with the JBA LT headers, the KOOKS set-up is great however $1500 is crazy !!! Will I get double the performance? no Will they last twice as long ? no

As far as noise, I am going with Catted H-pipe, all the off road pipes (without Cats) are insanely loud IMHO, if you are building a race car great but with a daily driver the LT headers, true H pipe and

aftermarket CATS and aftermarket exhaust it will be plenty loud enough !!!

I am spending $599 for the LT headers, $399 for Catted H-Pipe, and $400 for install at local shop, about $1400 total installed and unless you have access to a lift you better have them installed.

I estimate at least instant +25 HP , 20 TQ gain minimum. Thats less than $100 per HP/TQ unit gain, add a good CAI with a tune and you are +40 hp/tq over stock with just two simple bolt ons.

Granatelli now has a nice set of headers for our cars. there's another one I saw that is nice as well. Cant remember the name though. Shorty headers are an absolute waste of time and money. Long tube or nothing

Give us a call if you're interested in the Kooks setup as we are now WD distributors for them and can offer you very competitive pricing. Just let us know you're a member of Mustang Forums and we'll make sure to take excellent care of you. Thanks Jared

I have the Kooks and really love them. The quality is amazing and fit was perfect. The Kooks cost more than some others but IMHO they are worth the price.
