Man are we spoiled!! The clutch on that thing was at least 10x stiffer than the S197s. I guess thats the difference between a cable and hydraulic clutch. Otherwise it felt about the same as my car did when I had 3.55s but thats not a real fair assesment seeing as how I was still sorting out the clutch. I'm sure with some good road I could have reall laid into it. The seating is a bit more akward but something I guess I could get used too. The car was stock save for exhaust(not sure what all it had) But I can at least say I've driven more than one stang now.

The Mach1 I rode in ran excellent, really got up and went. I liked the retro look seats. They are I believe about 150 lbs lighter. I'll take the sn197 any day though!

You mean S197 or SN-95 or New edge? I think the S197s interior is baiscally a Mach 1 interior just 10X more comfortable.

Sorry about that typo, I meant S197, the mustang I rode in was a 2002, was 99 to 04 the S195? My 07 seats are better than the 02 Mach1, but I thought the Mach 1 seats looked cool.[8D]

79 - 93 are Fox platform

94-04 are SN-95 , with 99-04 being known as "new edge"

ours are obviously S197

the mustangs have all had hydraulic clutches since changing to the 4.6 in 96'

you may have driven a Mach 1 with an improved clutch, like a Centerforce

According to the driver the car was all stock except for the exhaust. I know steeda makes clutch quadrant adjusters for the SN-95s. I thought this was a deal for cable clutch cars. I really don't know since I haven't really researched the product.

Question to guys who know about New Edge Mach 1s. Are the automatic Mach 1s rated at less hp than the 5 speed ones? I know their rear end gears are 3.27 on autos vs 3.55 on the 5 speeds. A co-worker has a Mach 1 automatic(his wife was involved in the decision process). Anyhow, last night on the freeway a New Edge 'Stang started to creep up on me(thought it was just a GT) and I just smoked it(about 10 car lengths at least). When traffic slowed up, he pulled up next to me giving me a "thumbs up" and it was a red Mach 1! I thought they were a little faster than that(I'm sure it had to have been an automatic), was just curious if anyone knows the specs on the automatic Mach 1s. My co-worker isn't a car guy and has no clue. Yes the S197 are worlds nicer than the SN95 cars(also called FOX-4). My friend calls the SN95s an aero 5.0(referring to the '82-'93 GTs). I like the Fox 'Stangs much more than the SN95s(but I'd still take an SN95 before I'd buy another brand of sports coupe).
