My engine is doing the same thing. I mentioned it to the dealer when I had the oil changed, but they ignored it.

The sound in my car is definitely a valve lash tick. I did not know about the TSB, so I will take my car back to the dealer that I bought it from and have them check it out.

Without being near your car, I know your noise because I have it too.

The first mechanic I talked to at Ford said it was spark knock from the design of the engine resulting in one combustion chamber running hotter than the rest. I was told to change the plug gap in the suspect cylinder, or increase octane. I didn't believe this was the problem, and got a second opinion...diagnosis, valve lash. I've had a 2005 GT and now drive a 2006 GT (don't ask). Both cars have (had) the same noise. Ford mechanics haven't done anything to fix the problem. The noise makes me a little nervous every time I hear it because I know it's not good.

Well I just got off the phone with FORD and they diagnosed the problem as a valve lash in both the left and right sides. TSB 06-9-11 loud ticking noise-3 valve engines-stuck lash adjuster will be honored and fixed with no questions asked. I would print this from the TSB section and bring it on in and make sure they perform this TSB. The one catch is that there is a production date that it needs to fall under. Good luck and I will let you know how it all turns out. Funny, but I've gone to them to fix the high pitched hum on slow turns right and left and they wont recognize that TSB. That one isnt so bad, but the lash adjuster tick is embarrasing to say the least.

So Ford just called me and when they pulled the top part of the motor apart the ticking noise was due to a cracked cylinder head...unreal 3900 miles, no track time. Anyone else have this problem?

Wow, that sucks, but they are fixing so I wouldnt' stress it. Oh and now you have proof that just because you mod your car the dealer WILL still honor warranty.

Don't feel bad. When I bought my car back in '99, the P/S pulley cracked, the rear main seal leaked, and the tranny grinded..all within the first two months. [&:] No problems since!

Get all the kinks out early!! Thats what Im hoping for. Thats great after 7 years, no issues...I just knocked on wood for you. My dealer is pretty cool, so they arent going to play with me about my mods, unless of course the problem stems from the mod.
