How much does it cost for a supercharger (any of the good ones), all necessary parts and upgrades, and an install by a qualified shop?

Thinking I may do this some day, but want to get an idea of the total cost. I hate to say it, but depending on how it looks and how fast it is, I am afraid I may have Camaro envy once those things start appearing on the streets. A supercharger and front shelby conversion with a nice aftermarket hood just might fix that.

Also, not looking to go too over the top with it...Something that won't require massive engine or transmission upgrades, like something in the 425 - 450 range perhaps?

personally I would go with a centrifugal like a Vortech,Paxton,Powerdyne,or ProCharger

they are less labor intensive and intrusive, much more a "bolt on" item than the Saleen, Roush, Whipple, etc. - no top end tear down.

they are also about 1500 bucks cheaper. for a centrifugal plan on about 5 grand installed,tuned, and out the door. for a roots type plan on about 7 grand. People will tell you these numbers may be high, but there are always little things that add up.

whatever it takes, i gotta go with saleen, Whipple, or Kenne Bell.. just because of their whine.. i love that thing..

centrifugals are even louder. Pro-Chargers are almost annoying

I paid 4400 for the Saleen and installed it myself (easy). If I billed it out the install at our current shop rate it would have been just under a grand for install. So total about 5400.
This is with the Saleen tune.
As far as easy to install... it doesn't get much easier thaan the Saleen unit I just did. Childs play for any good mechanic.
Where you need to spend the $$ is if you want a custom tune. That is an art. The install is stupid simple for any mechanic with a brain.

so when you drive, can you hear that saleen S/C sound? is it noticable? i need to get supercarger like that to get that sound..

Can't hear my Saleen SC at all.
Wish I could, but it is very quiet... too quiet.
You can hear it a little if you throttle it, but very subtle.
Maybe if I had a CAI it would be louder.
