Default Biggest Bang for the buck

which one is it, really.comparing speed and price by ratio...............Stock

1.$18-20,000 Neon srt-4 at 240HP/0-60-6.1>1/4mile-14.1

2.$26-30,000 Mustang GT at 300HP/0-60-5.1>1/4mile-13.5

3.$65-70,000 Z06 Vette at 505HP/0-60-3.9>1/4mile-12.2

4.$140-150,000 Ford GT at 550HP/0-60-3.3>1/4mile-11.8

5.$40-46,000 GT500 at 500HP/0-60-4.4>1/4mile-12.6(when price goes down)

Me personally. I pick 3. ferrari numbers for less than half the price.

Number 3? WHY!?

I would take a NUMBER 2....with a $20K side order worth of aftermarket parts and walk circles around your $70K Vette selection. If you say "stock" and show me a price tag of over $60K then I would be forced to ask for your definition of "stock". Stock meaning that it came from the store with all the parts already installed? If thats the case.....I refer back to my first selection as a "special order" from your local Ford dealership.

Headers intake only c6 z06's are running 11.5's. It's too biased posting here, I mean our Mustang's are great cars, but there's no hiding it, even with 20k in parts on your stang, you don't have a stock car running 11's... You buy a c6 z06, and bonestock you can be under 12, full warranty, everything. The only way a stang will see that is with a blower, not stock, not N/A, no warranty. I love my car, but I try not to be so biased.

You are out of your mind if you don't think a Mustang can run mid 11's for 20k in mods. Turbo - $5500, suspension - $2000 and some other various mods - 3k will be more than enough to run low 11's and even deep into the 10s with a good driver. And I still have 10k left to spend.

IMHO, first off just comparing speed for the $ it's the MUSTANG. and $26-30K is high, if all you want is speed and few options, a GT can be had in the $23K range.
Your comparison's have to end there because you can't put a 4 passenger coupe in the same class as 2 passenger roadsters. So #'s 3 & 4 really don't belong in the survey.
If you want the "badge" the COBRA @ MSRP or less, is an OK buy. We all know our GTs with mods can eat a COBRA with less money outta pocket.
As far as the SRT4, cute little cars, fast for the $, but, a bit "ricey", and by no means a head turner like the MUSTANG.
For the $..... NOTHING even comes close to the MUSTANG GT.

and double bump to 1QuickShortBus

You are wrong blackoutstang. $20K of aftermarket parts will push this Mustang past that $70K Vette any day!
Oh, and you can get aftermarket parts installed at the Ford dealerships and keep a warranty. Its not impossible

Whats up with the thought of a Neon [sm=badidea.gif]
Wouldnt own one if they gave it to me

A Mustang with 20k in aftermarket probobly won't be nearly as reliable and as comfortable to drive as the stock Z06. Plus, the Z06 will get better mileage (not that it should be a concern).

Don't Saleens and Rousch's have warrantys? 55k for the big one and that is probably around the same speed as a z06.

You want to make a wager on that? Proper suspension components with adjustable shocks and struts with a regular street spring will make for a very good handleing car along with a great ride. My car gets over 28mpg on the hwy I doubt the Z06 can do that and a built motor which would take the other 10k in mods that I listed won't hurt the fuel mileage. The beauty of a turbo if you aren't making boost you actually get better fuel mileage. Oh and 550rwhp is more than enough to run DEEP in the 10's with one of these cars at full weight so all you need to do is turn the boost up to around 14psi and have fun!

I would take it if offered to me but I would sell it and put the cash into my stang and eat z06's
