SH 322ci 4.6L 3V......anyone running one?
I was on the SH website and saw the 322 stroker short block he sells for $4K.......anyone have this? Anyone running this n/a? If so, what kind of power is this set-up making with stock heads?

My only advice read up on SHM before you buy anything from them. Search is your friend not just on this site but all Mustang sites. Basically his stuff is junk and I wouldn't run one of his motors if it was given to me.

Good advise, I will. Is your opinion of SHM from direct personal experience or your own research? My question was more related to higher cube 3V's and not necessarily SHM's. I would like to start with more CI before going FI. By 2009 the market is going to be thick with 400hp muscle cars and even s/c's will won't be enough for the small displacement 4.6. Has anyone taken the 4.6 block further than 322ci?

It is from my own research and for reading about way too many problems people have had with them. Plus they tend to be very proud of thier stuff.
Stroker 4.6 motors haven't been proven in street applications, the extra stroke places a lot of extra side loading on the cylinder walls at the bottom of the stroke. Their is a lot of speculation that the motors won't last more than about 20k miles. About the biggest you can go with a 4.6 is 324 inches beyond that it is time to go to a 5.4.
I have been running my car at or above the numbers in my sig for over 7k miles with no problems on the stock motor, it's all about running a good tune.

I know that the 4.6 can make a lot of power without adding CI......but I like stroker motors. I had a 347 stroker 302 that was mean as hell. I was close to getting a 427 stroker 351W but sold the car instead. Anyone here on this forum done a 5.4L conversion on their S197 stang? I know the GT500 has a 5.4.....but what is involved in converting a stock GT over to the 5.4? I really need to learn more about the modular engines.......I know tons about the old OHV Ford engines....but very little about the modular.

I'm not convinced on "stroking" a modular engine, the design isn't friendly to such mods IMO, until Ford, or someone else develops a block to handle the increased(significantly that is) displacement I wouldn't worry about such current offerings. Forced induction and a bullet-proof bottom end are our allies(some tuners are getting 800+rwhp out of the GT supercar with "only" a 5.4L V-8 on pump gas).
Until a larger V-8 is offered, there's not too much(a least in the near future) that we can do other than run more boost S/C or Turbo'd.
I'd just concentrate on making a fully forged bottom end and running decent boost.......in stock form our cars can handle 500rwhp....how much more does anyone need for the street? Besides SHM is in Canada, they used to be popular about 4-8 years ago in the Mustang crowd, but I haven't see much from them lately being offered. I guess they're too busy on that Speed Channel show with that dude that looks like Elmer Fudd(shhhhhh....I'm huntin' wabbit).

RE: SH 322ci 4.6L 3V......anyone running one?
I realize there has not been a lot of experience yet with big bore/stroker 4.6's, but is there any REAL reason to expect that the 4.6 is different than all of the other engines out there?
What is the mileage expectation based on?
The bore and stroke changes available on this motor are not even very large compared to many other motors.
When I do my bottom end I'm definately going bigger. If I'm putting forged parts in anyway, a 5.2 stroker would be way easier than converting to a 5.4.

By the way, the 322ci short block is $6K with EXCHANGE.
The kit to upgrade your engine is $2.7K.

I just got my 322 stroker installed about 4 weeks ago! Waiting for cooler weather before I do a final tune. I used the Ford Racing 4.6 Big Bore aluminum block - 5.0L. 3.75 stroke and 3.7 bore - 322/323 cubic inch. Don't know what the power would be with just a stock heads because I had my heads CNC'd already and larger cam installed.
