Tech help - what is this bash plate protecting?
HI - I have had a new steep drive laid and the gate stop is bashing the underside of my V8 convertible.
Can anyone tell me what this bashed bash plate (between rear axles) is protecting - Image below
Also while posting anyone else suffering with braking problems (05 model with about 4k miles on the clock) - feels like warped disks.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers
Paul

And you would be incorrect that picture is behind the axle, the fuel tank is forward of the rear axle. If I recall correctly there are a few emissons pieces behind that cover.

I believe that is where they moved the charcoal canister, on the new edges they are tucked up in the rear quarter. And on the brakes, I just had to take my 06 in for rotors, only 1800 miles on it, they are using a pretty crappy grade of steel these days. I'll wait till I do my brake upgrade in about a year and put some good stuff on it.

My God man! 1800 miles?? Do you do a lot of panic stops, or racing, etc? That's seems dreadfully wrong, unless something happened while they were breaking in...
