RE: Royal Purple or RedLIne??
Redline is the only way to go. Besides the redline 5w-20 has a HTHS of 3.3 which is very strong for a 20 weight.

Wow, that is where all the oil gurus hang out! thanks for that link. Think i might try the RL5w20. Wonder if they post any facts regarding "early" switch to synthetic and the "rings cant seat" unless broken in on standar oil. Always wondered about that. Alot of cars ship from the factory full of synthetic oil.

RE: Royal Purple or RedLIne??
I have used Red Line in racing motorcycles for a long time. I am a big believer in their oils for water-cooled engines. I work on Ducatis, and as you may be aware their engines have a unique (desmodromic) valvetrain. They don't have valve springs, rather they have two sets of rocker arms, one set that opens valves and the other which closes them. This strange setup makes frequent valvetrain maintenance mandatory on Ducatis. Basically you have to take apart the valvetrain and re-shim the valves periodically to compensate for wear of the various parts. I found that after switching to Red Line oil, there was noticeably less shimming required during the valve services. That means there's less wear on the parts.
On the air-cooled Ducatis (which are generally lower-performance oriented bikes than the 4-valve screamers) I use Mobil 1 V-twin 20W50, which seems to control temps better than the redline does.
On the 'stang I'm running Mobil 1 in the engine, changed every 3K. I know that's a short interval for synth oils but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I also live in a dusty climate, so I want to make sure the internals stay clean.
I'm running Royal Purple Synchromax in the transmission (manual). It noticeably improved the shifts. I use this on 2-stroke motorcycle gearboxes as well, it makes the shifts noticeably quicker and more positive.
I'm running Red Line gear oil in the rear end.
Kenne Bell claims that they measured a significant HP gain in these mustangs by switching to Red Line oil in the engine, trans, and rear end. Read the article here: http://www.kennebell.net/techinfo/fo...gtTechTips.pdf
They claim according to their testing Red Line is "the best", followed by Mobil 1.
