2007 Mustang GT Exhaust...
Okay, I've had the car for two months, and I told myself I would leave it stock. This isn't working. After looking at some modified GT's at a local muscle car show I decided I want an exhaust and intake. I was looking at a 2 1/2" and a 3" Magnaflow cat-backs. I don't know much about any of this stuff, and I have a hard time finding worthwhile information on the web. What do you guys know, and recommend?

I havent heard many positive things about the magnaflows. A few guys took them off. I have never heard a complaint about corsa other than they being a little too soft sounding at idle.
I had magnaflows on my mopar for two days before they got sold on e-bay. They drove me crazy.

Boy this is really open to oppinion from one driver to another, on sound. We all have heard that really good sounding Mustang that we want our's to sound like. For what its worth, on my 07 GT 5 speed manual, I am running Pypes Violators. They are half the weight of the stock mufflers, and are polished stainless and guarenteed for life. They look beautiful, and sound sweet as can be. No drone, and you can cruise at part throttle or with the cruise control set and its nice and quiet. Just touch the gas, and your reminded how awsome your engine sounds. They have really nice 4 inch outlets, and set off the back of car very well. I run a C&L cold air intake and the Brenspeed tune using the SCT X-cal2 at 93 octane.
Brenspeed.com is where I got it all. I am no expert for sure, I have only had my car 6 weeks. I learned everything about the set up I am using from this site. I include pictures from the web site. Take care, Gary

RE: 2007 Mustang GT Exhaust...
Welcome.
Sound is really a personal thing and many people have different opinions on what would sound good. Listen to some sound clips and go to a few swap meets in person. I too have been looking for the perfect sound - actually obscessing over it. Tried one exhaust which sounded very good (FRPP stingers), but was a little loud for me and not quite what I was looking for, so I kept looking. I have recently ordered the FRPP GTA mufflers and will try these out.
Here are a few of my impressions:
Flowmasters are a chambered aluminized muffler, sound good, slight louder than stock at idle, slight deeper, wide open throttle (WOT) scream pretty good, but not excessive. Slightly tin-cannish (many people like). They don't have as much of the original flowmaster sound, since they were trying to minimize drone which can happen in these cars at 1300-2100 RPM. A few sound clips.

IMCOs are chambered aluminaized and have true old throaty muscle car sound (old Flowmaster), Extremes moderately loud, Pros not as much - tradeoff is more drone.

Borla Stingers = FRPP (Ford racing) are straight through stainless type, and have an aggressive wonderful sound, deep, mod loud, mod drone peaking at 1800 RPM. Aggressive scream at WOT. I had these but really wanted something just slightly louder than stock with not as much drone and more mellow sound. Really should look into these, alot of people have these and the fit is good.

FRPP "GTA' mufflers (made by Supreme Performance). Ford Racing sells these which are standard equipment stainless with X-pipe on the GTH and Shelby Mustang. Slight deeper, slight louder than stock. I have yet to hear a good clip with them on stock Mustang H-pipe but I hear it is similar. Here are a few with the X-pipe on the Shelby GTH:

Corsas are slight expensive stainless, straight through design stainless. Not much louder than stock or around town, but really scream at WOT and absolutely no drone. Alot of people like these, but don't expect muscle car sound down low.

SLP loudmouths - enough said. Straight through design, Very loud. Wicked. Many clips if you do a search
There also other muffler that I did not look much (JBA, Pipes, ...), and many people change out the CATs, Powerchambers, headers, etc which can totally change the sound. I did not want to do anything but change the axel back so that is all I looked at.
Enjoy and good obscessing.

Okay, so I do like the way the Corsa sounds. It's a bit more expensive, but it sounds better. If I were to buy the X pipe, and the axle back would that be a complete cat-back?
