oh i see it now (i subscribe to that and like 8 other mags. i keep them all lol). i was just flipping through car and driver and they have a list of all the cars that they have tested with info such as price, 1/4 times, top speed, braking, road holding and mpg. it says here that the top speed (non limited) on a stock '05 gt is 147.

I had her in the upper 130's lower 140's the other night when she was still stock. Did not look down to see where she was when I let off, but she was still pulling. I was just not looking to get pulled over at 1:30 in the morning for doing 70mph over the limit. I'm not a fan of going to jail..

Only had mine up to 105 in the middle of the desert in New Mexico on my way back to Detroit from Los Angeles...I get really paranoid about getting caught for speeding when I'm driving over 90. I should have let her wail...I easily had 5 miles visibility in front and completely open roads. Oh well, maybe some other time.

think I have read a similar post or four just like this one in the past.
i got mine up to around 68mph - is that fast? [sm=grin.gif]
sorry....she had 3 miles on her when i bought her...only had her 1 week before i had to put her in storage and leave the country to go play in the sand for a while. i will abuse her a little when i get back though - thats for sure!

there is a guy in this forum whos screen name is "cortc" or something like that...he is heavily modified and had hit a big top speed number...like 160 or something like that i think. he said something like this "i'm sure if i modify _________ (i dont remember that part) , i could get to 200 mph but i would never drive that fast without a proper splitter/spoiler because it might get pretty unstable".

Our cars are drag limited to ~145 stock. Computer Govener is 150??

Just curious how fast you guys have gone in your stock 05-06-07 GT's. I'm talking straight from the factory stock, no tune, no CAI, no new tires, NOTHING.
I got mine to about 135mph and then ran out of room. I hear these cars are limited to 149mph...is that true? Also, how high up did you take 4th gear? Just curious at what point you needed to shift to 5th.
Lastly, I am of the opinion that given infinite straightaway and infinite gas, these cars could do probably 170mph 100% stock with no limiter. Any opinions on this?
Oh, and while 4.10 gears will decrease top speed theoretically, wouldn't they INCREASE top speed in practice by allowing your car more power to get up to a faster speed? I mean it's not like we're running out of gear...200mph is our theoretical top speed stock so if lowered to 179mph theoretically it could actually make us get closer to the max by giving us more power...right?
