Default RE: Blue Smoke on Startup???

Nothing to be concerned about. Mine will do it once in a blue moon. I am sure it is the pcv system. Besides. A little oil usage is normal and is a good thing. If no oil got past the valve stem seals, the engine would seize in no time flat. Same deal with the rings. They are all lubricated by a thin film of oil. The seals are just to limit consumption.

Ususally mine will take a half quart or so every 2000-3000 miles which is fine with me.

All the new HEMI motors smoke right off of the dealer lot if they sit a while without being started. Quite a bit of smoke actually. But they seat in and the smoke stops in a 100 miles or so.

The tapping noise might be the valves clicking and that is where the oil might be comming from.
