Yea; they look like and sound like a good idea. How much do you think that well help the stopping w/ a kit like that? and how much for labor normally?

Like I said, I really don't know how much the Baer kits will help. In theory, it will be an improvement, but in the real world the question is whether or not it is an improvement you can notice and with which you are satisfied.

I have to confess, I'm of the opinion Arrow and GTSLOW expressed--ideally I'd like to upgrade to StopTech's or Wilwood's kits. For now, for money reasons, I'm trying out different brake pads to see how much I can max out the stock system.

BTW, from what I gather the Baer kit above is not hard to install--if you can change your brake pads, you should be able to install this kit (no bleeding required, etc.). If you're a strictly hands-off kind of guy, I'd expect a charge of one hour to 1.5 hour labor (check local shops and ask their hourly rate). This isn't a hard install, so they shouldn't be gouging you for 2+ hrs of labor (IMO).

Best,
-j

Are there any good kits out there that DO NOT have slotted and/or drilled rotors? The track-day events I go to don't allow slotted/drilled rotors.

The one track-day event I was at (Lime Rock) really showed me that the stock brakes are not up to the task. They work fine for only the first 4 or 5 really heavy brakings, and then start to fade away. It looks like upgrading to steel-braided brake lines and slightly more aggressive pads is the most effective way, but if there's a good kit out there that also includes better rotors, I'm up for it.

Its not that the breaks are weak, its that you drive too fast!!!

But yeah, listen to these guys.

If you want some serious stopping power, huge rotors, great pads, 6-cylinder calipers, and great brake lines.

if you wanna shell out the cash

I came from a lifted jeep (which have horrible brakes to begin with) and I feel like I can stop on a dime with this thing :-P
