Default UPDATE 11/16 advice on take-off

Well, i have the mac mufflers on the way. I got under the car this morning to take a look at what im going to have to do. I want to take off the stock mufflers for a day. I did a search but didnt come up with anything. Without a jack is taking off the stock mufflers hard? how long will it take and is it bad for the motor?

thanks in advnace

Nothing about taking them off is hard. You can do it in about 15 minutes. I took mine off, and drove around once with no bad effects. The driver's side pipe (where it goes over the axle) would bounce off of the track bar, sounding like a cow bell, when I went over bumps.

Keep your seat back and tray table in the upright position.

It shouldn't hurt anything... assuming you took off just the mufflers (behind the axle).

Nope, it won't hurt anything except a few of your neighbors ears. I did this for a few days as well and while it was loud, it sounded extremely unrefined. It will get much better with your macs.

Good luck!

So i will not be getting the macs as soon as i thought. And i really don't want to put on the stock exhaust again. Is this going to hurt the motor if i leave them off for another week then store it for the winter without them on?

It shouldn't. There is still more than enough pipe that you should not have any issues with valve warping (due to cooling too quickly after shut off).

HELP!! I think i shook something loose.

On my way home from work tonight, i started hearing this noise. I turned down the radio and i could tell it was the pipe hitting the axel. I've had the mufflers off for about a week now and it has not done this yet. I took the same way home that i always do so i know its not the road. Could i have knocked something loose? Should I put the mufflers back on? Thanks!

(it was raining REALLY REALLY hard tongiht...don't know if that makes a difference)
