Default Stock 18" tires for $79

FYI, Tirerack has a special running on the stock BFG 18" for $79. Pretty good price for these tires.

Are these tires much better then the stock pirelli's? Do they have alot more traction?

These are the tires that came stock if you got the 18" option. For 235's they do a god job. I have no experience with the pirelli's, but many have posted that they aren't that great.

For anyone that might have worn out the rear tires...

This is a good price for the stock replacement.

Good price for any 18" tires! They even undercut Kuhmo with those prices!

for fronts they are fine, but I would never replace the rears with such a narrow tire. 255 would be my min. 275 or 285 is what the rears really should have

Can someone explain to a newbie what all these numbers mean? 255, 275, 285 ?

The numbers in the tire size refer to its width, aspect ratio, and wheel diameter. "205/55R16" means the tire is 205 mm wide, has an aspect ratio (that is, the height divided by the width) of 55%, and fits on a 16" rim.

"R" means radial tire. They're all radials nowadays. Speed ratings are usually inserted before the "R." The most common speed ratings are HR (good for 130mph), VR (149 mph), and ZR (more than 149 mph).

Thanks praztek,
That's kind of confusing if the tires width is measured in mm and rims are measured in inches. I like the stock "height of tires" of my 05 vert but I would love a wider rear rims. I guess I just need to see what I want because these numbers are confusing. It seems the larger the rims get like 18 " the less tire height you see. I want more rubber on the sides but larger rims.

I think you mean "side wall" height becomes less with larger wheels, the overall tire height should remain nearly the same.
