This is my opinion on this one:
If your planning on keeping your Mustang for a long time and keeping it stock, get the 3.55 gears. Make it a little more rare. I would recommend all the options for this.
If you are like 95% of the folks on these boards you will just end up going with the base gears and changing them later.

My bad. I should have specified that I was talking about the 3.31s.
mustangman02232, they are rated the same, but logic should tell you that (on the highway) the 3.31s will get better mileage because the engine is turning slower. The ratings are BS anyway. I get about 22mpg in town and about 27mpg on the highway (with a best of 29mpg). That is with 3.31s and a manual tranny, stock with "performance killing", "heavy", "non-retro", "ricer", "ghetto" 20 inch wheels.

You mean the 3.55 will get better mileage?

Basically, it won't launch as hard, but it will get better gas mileage.

^^ ....No.. its not.. I get around 18-19 around town and 24-25 highway.. And I even like to romp on it around town. The comp isnt lying because I calc it out myself and the computer is pretty much always dead on, usually its a little low though, you actually get BETTER gas mileage than what it says from my experience.
