Redline

I'm running the JLT II CAI and SCT 87 tune; what can I safely set my rev limiter to?

RE: Redline

How long have you been driving it like that? Do you get up there that often?

RE: Redline

I'm set for 7000rpm. I never hit it, but now I can shift @ 6500 , knowing it won't hit the e-stop:)

RE: Redline

Why would you want to rev it more? the engine gets out of the power band after 6,200 rpm, I usually shift at 6k when I am racing.

RE: Redline

you want it around 6800, because the drive by wire crap starts to retard the timeing 500 rpms before the limiter to prepare for it, so it will also take away from your power, you should still shift at or before 6k

Hmm you sure it is exactly 500rpm? if so I might raise my redline to 6.6k then

its around 500 rpms, i know that they start retarding timeing preparing for the limiter to kick in though, thats why when you are in the top end it sometimes feels weak

It starts to feel weak because the motor stops making HP around 5700 rpm. It will bounce off the rev-limiter at 6250

while i agree it does get out of the power band, it is also due to the car preparing to hit the limiter
