Because of this. But I could certainly settle for this.

Unless I can get some kind of exhaust put together to mimic it. Any ideas?
That vette has some sick HP to run 13.5/125. To almost come to a complete stop after tripping the timing lights and then slow shifts and still loose in the first three gears! It's out of it's element but I like seeing hydrocarbons turned into noise!

And why do you think you want to rev to 8500rpms? ...

Well, I will chime in here. With my custom tune my power curve did not start to drop until 6400. I have my shift light set at 6200 and usually shifted at the track at about 6400. I have my rev limiter set at 6850 and have hit it a few times. Since the cam and spring install, my curve starts to fall at 6700 rpm's. I pulled it to 6800 several times on the dyno without any temp, oiling or valve float issues. I am keeping my rev limiter at 6850, but am shifting at 6700. So far so good! I am pushing it? I am sure I am. The custom dynotune that is being done Dec.1st may change the curve again.

I've got an 05 automatic. These shift points have given me the best ET's. 1st to 2nd 6000, and the rest at 6300. I short shift 1st to 2nd due to the deep 1st gear ratio and the close spread in the gear ratios between 1st and 2nd.

On the 2V, yes, they do fall down on the top end. I had a '99 GT. With the 3V, I have never felt it fall flat on the top end. Feels like it's pulling like a train all the way to the rev limit. And it really comes alive just above 3000 RPM. I want to know how far out it will pull, not to mention that beautiful sound of a high revving V8. I haven't seen any dynographs of the 3V falling flat on the top end except, of course, at the rev limit. You have to expect that, considering the computer is cutting power at the limit.

AmericanMuscle4.6GT, why would you say I should've gotten something with a smaller engine?? It's not like these are large displacement. Don't you know that the Ferrari has a 4.3L V8? And that Vette probably has at least 7L. Yet both of those engines rev to 8K easily.

Arwing, do you think the Cammer 5.0 revs only to 6500RPM??[&:] I'm sure it does at least 7K.

Amazing how someone can have an idea or simply WONDER about something and the naysayers appear out of every crack and hole and from under every rock to say it can't be done with zero reasons why it can't.[X(]

These engines are designed to run reliably for 150K+ miles. That has a lot to do with why they're limited to only 6250RPM(?), not just mechanicals. I believe they could rev out to 7000RPM easily with no ill effects in stock dress.

I want about 7200. What do I need to do?

[edit]
Actually, I want about 8500, but I figure I might as well try to stay close to reality.

Get a Honda!!![sm=gears.gif][sm=joke.gif]

With a DiabloSport tuner you could remove the rev limiter or move it up on a custom tune. You have to have springs for sure and cams would be logical at this point. I also believe there is some sort of programming that starts to pull timing as you approach the rev limiter, which does cause torque to fall off. I have read on some of these sites that high rpm is a quick way to cause engine failure with the 3v motor, specially if you are using a power adder, but I've also read these are rev loving motors - go figure
Know what you mean about the naysayer thing dude, but overall you get good info here without too much BS.
