300 crank

mach1 buit to go against the z28

cobra against SS and ws6s

and yes " its take a sc to buid gm, but yes its only 4.6; not a 5.7;6.1,7.0 L v8, bla bla)

great; i like both. I was looking at ws6's...just hard to find one were you really think it wast just beat on ever sec of its life.
well, the mach came out after the fbodys were killed, and a Z28 is an SS with out the hood scoupe

i wasnt saying a 3800 fbody would take a GT, i was saying it should of taken the above posters 3k GT, however, with the Y87 package, htey are game for the s197 6ers and NPI GTs

Yes; its the same motor in the SS as the Z28; but the SS has a ram air like the ws6. just like the TA has 305 and the ws6 has 320(the ta,z28,ss,ws6 all have the same motor).

"In Z28, trip the engine made 305 horsepower. With the SS package it made 320 horsepower" <---from the above link

what is a NPI GT??? Ive already raced one of those w/ my 3kgt at a light. had me by a car link from the start. cought up by 2nd; gone by 3rd. the 3kgt is lighter and has more hp; pretty plain and simple...

and im pretty sure a 310hp mach could stay w/ a 305hp z28...
NPI is 96-98 4.6 with crappy flowing heads, power ratings on later 4th gens mean nothing, ya they were rated at 305 HP, to bad they put down 310 to the wheels

mach 1/NA cobra/bolt on s197 and ls1 = drivers race

With my Brenspeed tune/CAI and Steeda Underdrive pullys, I could easily eat a mach 1. So I highly doubt a Mach 1 can compete against a Z-28 or SS or their's no difference between the two argument. I from what I understand should be putting down around 300 rear wheel horsepower and the 2002 z- 28s and SSs' have what 320 to 330 rear wheel horsepower.
you dont get 30 HP from a CAI/tune, you got probably 15, i think if you were to race a mach you would be surprised, they are underated and it would be more of a drivers race with you having an advantage

28 RWHP gain w/JLT2 & Tune.

First off, I don't want to ruffle any feathers here. But I'm a believer in both cars. I'm amazed what GM has always done with pushrod motors. The power they make and the fuel economy to boot. Now I also give Ford credit on what they've done with the 3v 4.6 motor. But I'm surprised the lack of facts here, in regards to HP to the crank vs. to the rear wheels.

Experience from my brother owning a 98 Z28 with the LS1, was putting out an honest 305whp. After he had a K&N and Borla cattback put on, it was pushing out just under 320rwhp. These are dyno results and not opinion results. Now no discredit to Ford, but they've always struggled to match that number with the GT. I own a 06 GT and I believe its putting out a true 270 to the rear. I've read a lot of dyno results for my car, with a CAI, tune, off road X or H, and the numbers range from 290 to 305, depending on octane level, possibly a UDP setup. These seem like more realistic numbers.

I've raced a 98 Z28, and he pulled me pretty bad. Not to say I was smoked, but I sure as hell didn't win either. Again I don't want to upset any opinions here but I form mine from, A: having a 06 GT, B: having a LS1 in the family, C: Losing to a LS1, D: dyno results, and lastly E: The experts at MRT. After talking with the owner a series of times, there isn't anything this guy doesn't know.

By no means is there a better deal for the money than a Mustang. For the price its truly in a class of its own. And at the same time I'm sad GM pulled the plug on Camaros and Firebirds.

You cannot compare dyno #'s from one dyno to another accurately. The best test of HP is the quarter mile MPH. That stays consistent regardless of traction and is the best indicator of power the groud.

Since the Fbodies were cancelled (for now) and the Mustang has carried on, I would say Ford won the fight overall
