I would say average driver.

I have heard of quite a few gt500's at the strip in stock form only mustering low 13's or very high 12's. While slightly modified GT stangs are doing the same.

To me, if the stock gt runs 13.5 which I believe is true going by the slips I have seen. The gt500 should be turning 12.1-12.2 bone stock to be worth upwards of 50K. As far as being worth close to 70K All I will say is to each his own.

But to be fair. Eliminate the launch and time the two cars from a roll or at highway speeds. And I am sure the GT500 hauls ***.

I thought about that but they have more than one driver and I doubt all of them are bad drivers although its possible. I guess I just expected this car to be in the 11's or low 12's the way our bolted on S197 haul....Also if you check my car site in my sig it lists every mod by name and when it was installed in the history page.

Its called Razzi by the way.

No doubt my friend. With numbers like those listed on Motor week I am not so scared of them and will run with one anyway. I don't care if I get smoked, it will be fun anyway. ha

hammeron--- You are correct sir!

MusiccityGT spanked one at the 1/8 mile track in Clarksville , Tennessee right after they were released. That was before his cam swap & I believe he was 305 - 310 rwhp at the time. He felt it was driver and also the car might be hard to launch bone stock considering gearing, skinny tires and front weight bias. I'm sure in a highway roll-on that your s197 better have stayed in a Holiday Inn the night before or be sporting forced induction. By the way, Whipple has a "SHOCK & AWE" upgrade in the pipeline for the GT 500 - remember, you heard it here 1st - can you say a swap = 650 RWHP, believe it, it comming and thats without internal mods!

Lets see GT 500 --------- -----$40,000 (next year of course)

Whipple RBB--------------------$ 6,000 ( RBB = Really Big Blower)

Total for Shock & Awe Pony - $46000 ( wish I had waitted!)

It think it was Autoweek last week that gave the figures for the Roush upgrades for the GT 500 putting it at 700 HP.
Wow.

The Roush is probably at the flywheel - seems I've heard them claim 420 for a stage 3 roush and at the rear wheel its more like 375.

Yeah it was just a little blurb that it was coming. It likely is not RWHP. Its still sick though.

Do you really think the GT 500 will drop 3000. next year? I don't. Its sticker is at just under 43,000 now (if you could find one for sticker). I'm sure they will come down as the run goes on, but I doubt below sticker price (although I hope they do).
