Went to Ford Dealer today for oil drain plug gaskets, They wanted $6 for one gasket and did not even have any in stock . Where do you guys get your plug gaskets for you 4.6? Thanks, Fosman

I've done three oil changes so far, don't remember a gasket, doesn't it have an "O" ring?

It did look like an o ring, I thought it was a gasket with an o ring center, but it wouldn't come off, so I left it, would be nice to know, Thanks, Fosman

It's a washer, but they call it a gasket

Am I supposed to replace the washer every time? I just changed my oil with mobil one and my oil filter gasket was stuck to the car. I bet a jiffy lube place wouldn't have noticed and screwed a new oil filter right over top of it.

the only oil drain plug gasket I know of is actually on the drain plug. If you look at it, there is a small o-ring in the back side of the hexshaped portion of your oil drain plug. It seals against the oil pan when you install it.

There is an O-ring on the drain plug, however it doesn't need to be replaced under normal use.

If you do need a new one for some special reason, just get one from a local industrial supply house. O-rings are a dime a dozen, even high quality ones.

I replaced the oil pan drain plug with an oil drain valve I got from Moss Mustang. Part# 112-446. About $20. I plan on keeping my Stang a long time and this makes oil changes a breeze. I had one my Miata and never had a problem with it.
